2)What do big industries expect from Freshers?

3)If possible give some list of game industry in india?

4)And what is the usual pay does a game programmer can get?

1)In order to get into Game Industry what are the qualifications should i have?

Depends on the area you would like to work on (Art, Tech, Design)
A Bachelor's degree in CS (Tech) - sounds reasonable
OR
A Bachelor's degree in Art/Industrial Design - sounds reasonable

So instead of using the term Qualification i would suggest say skills:
1. Good Communication Skill (both Written and Verbal)
2. Good Programming knowledge (if Tech)
3. Good Art knowledge and strong design fundamentals (if Art/Design)

Eventually it boils down to getting a GOOD INTERVIEW.

2)What do big industries expect from Freshers?

<Incorrect Quesion: you mean What do Game Development companies expect from Freshers> Refrain from using Subjective Terms like "Big" and general terms like "Industry"

1. Sound knowledge of FUNDAMENTALS in your domain (Programming or Art whatever)
2. Confidence and good communication
3. Honesty (Saying "I don't know rather than giving incorrect or half baked answers)
4. Desire to make games (General Knowledge of Games, being a gamers is always added advantage BUT NOT A SKILL in itself)
5. Sound Information about the Company you are applying (I have taken interviews where candidates did not even known what our company does)

3)If possible give some list of game industry in india?

Search this forum and IGDA forum to gets basic answers - This question has been answered a GAZILLION times.

4)And what is the usual pay does a game programmer can get?

- Good enough for those who love making games

All the best

I'm sorry, but Good enough isn't always Good enough. Could you be a little more specific, please ?

>>Could you be a little more specific, please?

I have no clue i am not in HR. By good enough it means simple (MAYBE for me only), I loved making games so much that whatever the company gave was good enough for me. My first pay in year 2000 was Rs. 2500/-

If i had thought about only money then, i probably would not be here. Accordingly to me, for a FRESHER an opportunity to break into the games industry is more important than earning few thousand less or more. As you become more experienced your pay radically increases.(better)

People often says "Game Industry Pay" versus "Software Industry Pay"

I would be lying if i said they are equal, there is a difference but:

a) difference is few thousands for fresher’s and 1/2 years experience
b) difference minimizes as you move up
c) I know few extremely skilled and experienced Developers drawing salary more than their level in Software

Eventually your pay depends on how good you are, good game programmers are in shortage in India and companies are willing to shed lot of money.

So Good enough is ""always"" good enough. As that is the meaning of the individual words "good" and "enough" and when used together means

Enough to make someone focus on the bigger goal.

Cheers

I tend to read, I mean a lot. So I've read lots and lots of articles but this recent one I found really dissuaded me for some reason.

So I just had to ask what kind of pay Indian Game developers get as there is not much info about that on the net. (And I though it would be highly absurd, me making a brand new thread and going like "Hey people how much do you get paid ?")

Anyway thanks for the answer. It was not as specific as I would have liked but I get the gist !!

you are right, to have this data someone; in India Needs to do an offical Survey (like the one IGDA does every year to gather International Game Developer Salary Survey. But these values hold little meaning to india even if you have particpated .

I hear your concern, but there will be no one person who can give you a generic answer. This is a data mining problem: There needs to be factual data first and then stats drawn over it.
