As we welcome December with cozy sweaters and steaming hot cups of chai and coffee, get ready to create everlasting game-dev memories for a lifetime, as Global Game Jam 2023 registrations have officially begun!
What’s a Game Jam ?
For all of us new here, a Game Jam is an event where the sole purpose is to create a game. Everyone who is interested can participate and create. Anyone can contribute their skills, whether it be code, art, sound, design or any aspect of a game, as a one-man-army or as a part of a fantastic team. Every Game Jam typically has a theme and a time limit, and they can be either online or offline.
First held in 2011, Global Game Jam (GGJ) is a 48 hour jam based on a unique new theme every year. The history of GGJ is long and glorious, having been the first game jam for many of us game devs, and a truly monumental event which brings together the whole world to have fun, by making delightful games.

And as we have finally started putting the harrowing isolating days COVID-19 behind us, the latest edition of GGJ has a glowing number of physical sites to go and get your jam on.
You just can’t beat ideating your next great gaming masterpiece at 2AM, fuelled by pure creativity and caffeine, with a room full of people who are just as insane and passionate as you are. (There have been quite a lot of successes in the past!)
Over the years, India has built up a massive following of the GGJ. Developers from all over India, from all disciplines take part in this annual celebration of game making. You can find all the sites that are hosting GGJ here: GGJ India Sites 2023.
